❄️ Winter Data Wonder #2 – Insights into the Ethical, Legal & Societal Dimensions of Data Science
NFDI4DataScience together with Uniklinik Cologne has contributed a fascinating dataset to the NFDI Winter Data Wonder Series:
A collection of 30 anonymised expert interviews exploring the ethical, legal, and social aspects (ELSA) of data science projects. Conducted between November 2022 and February 2024, the interviews include perspectives from both academia and industry.
The goal of the study was to identify common legal and ethical challenges faced in data science workflows and to understand how researchers and practitioners navigate them. These insights form the foundation for developing guidelines to support responsible and trustworthy data science.
The dataset is openly available (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) and can be used for analysis, teaching, and exploration of real-world data science challenges.
