Shared AI tasks attract the AI and Data Science community
NFDI4DS Shared AI Tasks provide a framework for scientifically exciting and challenging tasks for the NFDI4DS community. A Shared Task is a friendly competition to solve a research problem in the field of data science and AI hosted as a scientific event.
NFDI4DS is organizing an extensive line-up of Shared Tasks - more than 20 so far. Each Shared Task comes with a specific challenge and a dataset. All our Shared Tasks are conducted in the context of well-known international events with published proceedings. A peer review assures the quality of the selected solutions.
One highlight in 2026 was the third iteration of the NFDI4DS-organized workshop on natural scientific language processing (NSLP 2026) co-located with the ESWC conference. It hosted two Shared Tasks:
- (1) Scientific Fact-checking of Social Media Posts on Climate Change (ClimateCheck) and
- (2) Software Mention Detection in Scholarly Publications (SOMD).
